  This is the second year we've visited Broomfield orchard. The first year our Transit van got stuck on the grass beside their driveway so the least said about that the better. Suffice to say that the farmer was very helpful in getting us unstuck. This year we parked outside and walked down the driveway to save embarrassment. Today we bought different varieties of apples, a jar of the farm's honey, and two litres of their cider. On the way home we ate an Empire apple each and as last year they were extremely sweet, crisp, juicy, and with a wonderful acidity that is missing from supermarket apples. The small shop is packed with fascinating old tools all over the walls and reminds me of years gone by. It's a lovely place. Worth mentioning also is that the prices are much lower than the quality of the produce would suggest.
